Even if you have been in Art in the Park before, please READ THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY BEFORE APPLYING as our guidelines may have changed in reference to your discipline.

Criteria for acceptance in to Art in the Park 2008

For sculpture, painting, installation, performance & craft in all media

In order to keep the Mandate for Art in the Park strong in the face of overwhelming demand from artists and limited space, we have had to tighten up our guidelines for participation in the event.

  • We DO NOT accept anyone selling any kind of mass-produced goods (this includes imported bags, clothes, soap & bath products or jewelery). All goods MUST be HAND-MADE by the REGISTERED vendor.
  • Makers will be “juried” relative to the integrity, originality, level of craftsmanship and artistic merit of their work. WE ARE LOOKING FOR ART, NOT PRODUCTS.
  • Goods cannot be mass-produced, however, high-quality, limited signed editions of the registered vendor’s OWN work are acceptable (e.g. Giclée prints, postcards or photographs). This is the ONLY exception. The Art in the Park guidelines are NON-NEGOTIABLE. Art in the Park reserves the right to deny registration to any applicant.

SPECIAL CRITERIA FOR JEWELLERS:

Jewellery must be innovative, unique, and have strong hand-made elements. WE ARE LOOKING FOR MORE THAN JUST ARRANGEMENTS OF COMMERCIAL ELEMENTS.

Art in the Park respects and admires much of the work we have had in our festival over the years that may not meet our current guidelines. There are many other venues available to these makers who are selling work produced in multiples, repeats or reproductions of a commercial nature. The jury will accept or reject applicants on technical criteria not aesthetic judgement. This will ensure that Art in the Park maintains its mandate.

No percentage of the artist’s sales is taken by the organizers.
